oops just noticed the ODP directory forum, there are so many forums on here I guess its easy to make a mistake as it was the Directory forum that stood out etc which seemed relevent for my topic. cheers mrix
What you're really doing is submitting a site suggestion for consideration. Many site suggestions are being reviewed and added to the Directory daily, but as editors are volunteers working in their areas of interest, there's no way to predict when or if a suggestion might be added. (if it qualifies) No site is ever guaranteed a listing. You might like to read our new Blog: http://blog.dmoz.org/ Maybe you'd like to become an editor. As long as your editing is unbiased, you're not just adding your own sites, and you're honest about your afilliations, having sites of your own wouldn't keep you from becoming an editor. I don't have any sites of my own anymore, but, I think most editors have at least one.
Don't even bother trying to get into DMOZ in any kind of reasonable time period. And asking "how can I get listed" here won't help either. All you will get is crazy answers from DMOZ editors that make you want to go:
I got removed for alleged self-interest after adding more then 300 competitor websites compared to two links to my website so what is safety margin for listing your own website? 500? 1000?
That would be a matter between you and the 5+ metas who made the decision. It's none of my business, and not knowing any of the facts, it wouldn't be fair for me to form any opinion on your case, . lol, nice EveryQuery, I feel that way myself sometimes.
It really depends on WHO you are I believe. Some editors can have thousands of their own pages listed. Others it seems only need to think about entering their site before they are considered a self server. Which is really odd, as adding in your own sites IS within the guidelines. You not knowing the facts is likely the exact reason that those rules are still in place. Well, not YOU specifically, I mean you as in anyone not a meta. With the meta's hiding behind their secret doors that leaves the ex editor out in the cold with only their character to show for their actions. I think that if more ex-editors were complete trash it would server the secrecy better. As it stands there are a good handful that seem rather nice, making the meta community look rather mean on some level.
