Oh sorry, were you referring to things other than backlinks, i know next to nothing about the chinese internet use.
Nice discussion guys, I do submit to other language specific directories but usually you need to have the site translated to that language otherwise it might be rejected automatically I can help out with Greek directories if any wants Anyone know of any italian directories to submit to ??
Hi Chios, do you have a list of Greek directories possibly? unfortunately i dont have an italian list, but maybe other members here can help out with that, many nationalities around here.
I have a list of 3,000 Polish directories and a custom program to submit to all of them. They offer many English language categories such as Directories, SEO, Add URL, Webmaster, Catalogs, Shopping Online, etc. Also some of them are entirely in English. I can offer to submit any site to the entire list for $75. The only disadvantage is that they usually do not send pending email notifications, but I have developed a spider that crawls all the directories on the list and produces a report for a specific site that was submitted. This way, usually after 2-3 weeks all approved links are in the report. I will provide links to the report. Another great thing that I noticed is that some of them are set on auto approval so about 20% of submissions are immediately listed. If anyone is interested, please PM and I will supply the PayPal account.
You need to understand the categories in a given language. Online translation services will translate entire pages for free. Sometimes when too technical though, the translation makes no sense. You might also want to consider translating and understanding the submission guidelines. I managed to get into several PR7s because I carefully translated the guidelines and obeyed by the rules. Many foreign webmaster forums might also offer submissions to web directories in the particular country.
I generally submit in their language and get myself familiar with the category that i need to submit to after figuring out what its called. Sometimes when you translate something its a good idea to try translating it back into your own language, sometimes it wont make sense and how you think something will be written in one country can sometimes not be used that way.
Here is a list of over 500 foreign language directories. There is also thousands of regional directory lists, with directories specific to countries, states or cities.
