Adding Video To Wordpress Template?

Discussion in 'WordPress' started by HockeyFan, Aug 3, 2010.

I'm pretty new to Wordpress and would like to add a couple videos to a custom page template I have.

The videos are stored on my server, so I'm not looking to just link to a video site. Also, they're .flv.

Anyone know how to do this? Also, do I accomplish this using a plugin, or is that only if I were posting the video in a post?

    Thanks

This suppose your server should be able to act like a video server which is costly in term of ressources.
Then you need to add embedded videos, just as does Youtube. Simply go to Youtube and have a look at the way they do.
But I won't advise to insert in your template. Rather use widget to do it.

My theme doesn't support widgets currently.

Is there another way to do it without using a widget?

You can try wordpress plugins, they're pretty handy.

That's my problem though, I don't know how to integrate the plugin into a static page template to get the videos to show up.

    Anyone familiar with doing this?

As I mentioned before, I'm trying to add a video to a static page. The video plugins I've come across seem to be for posts.

How can I use a plugin for a page template?

Therefore the only possibility is to add embedded video inside your template.

There is an option in every post, upload video...

Just click it... You can upload video from your computer or from any URL...

I'm not using blog style posts though, I'm using static page templates. When I insert it as a post, it doesn't show up on the page where I need it to be.
