You can place other ads on your site, as long as they comply with Adsense rules. The one I think you would be concerned with is that you are not allowed to have any automatic contextual advertising on the same page that Adsense ads appear on.
I'm working with Google AdSense and Fidelity Media at the present time and haven't any problems with it...
