I have added quite a few pages to my website over the last 3 weeks, but even though I have a sitemap and I think good meta tags, those pages don't seem to be being picked up by the search engines? should I submit individual pages to the search engines or my whole site again? or just leave it? Also I would really appreciate it if anybody here could have a look at my site and tell me what I can do to improve traffic, its only 3 months old but my traffic is all over the place, I have had a day recently with only 25 hits and another day where I had over 1400 all unique. http://www.w8lossreviews.com
Social bookmarking sites helps a lot and once traffic is increased, it would just spread if the content found in your site drives attention to viewers.
can you see if googlebot is visiting your website? did you add links to your new pages on your existing pages?
I checked one of your pages on low fat desserts and the content is not unique. If this is how you plan to run your website (i.e. using duplicate content), don't expect to see your website in the main index (you'll be thrown into Supplementals instantaneously). If you want to improve your traffic, start by creating UNIQUE content that hasn't been recycled.
Try to create google sitemap file. I've done this with my site, so each time there's new page, google sitemap files will be updated and then ping google for new sitemap. (http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ping?sitemap=your_sitemap_file) Hope that helps.
give it a few more days and also get more baclinks to your site especially from sites which is being index by google often.
thank you for the help, how do you find out whats dupe content, several of the articles were provided by the affiliate program I am with, but I spent a lot of time trying to change the wording...??? about half my content is written on my own from reading multiple articles on subjects and putting them in my own words, but I was hoping changing the base one would work so I would have content.
Just create xml site map for your site and resubmit it to google. and do proper internal linking for new pages which u have added in your site. when google boat crawl your indexed pages it will also crawl new added pages.
Add more unique content. Also make sure that meta tags in all the pages are different. Create the yahoo and google Sitemaps .
I will make all the changes recommended over the weekend, thanks for everyones help. Is there a way to use dupe content and not get penalized for it? What happens when you quote someone or quote stats? is there a ratio for unique to dupe info on a page that keeps you safe?
Google Site Map Advice Many of our clients ask us the same question. "We've submitted it". There is one way now to do it quickly and know what your results are. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/docs/en/about.html Then download a "XML site map creator" (http://code.google.com/sm_thirdparty.html) I use http://gsitecrawler.com/ because it doen't have a page size limitation. Not only will it create a "Google Site Map", it uploads it to Google for you if you have the Google Webmaster Tools account set up. But also submit the "sitemap.xml.gz" file created to yahoo and msn (Only once!!!) This will solve this problem once and for all. I have now used this concept on over 128 sites and I have no problems (unless it is my fault). Check out my "non-zipped" version: http://www.catanich.com/sitemap.xml Hope this helps... Many of us will like to know how this is done. Can you give us examples or reference site that explain the tasks required to do this.
