ok I have an account on a host that allows unlimited add ons....I want to host a few proxies on that one account... how do I add these under cpanel? will www.example.com go to a subdomain on my host ? I'm wanting my proxies to each have their own www.myproxy.com instead of the domain being redirected to a subdomain...is that possible?
Just click Addon in your cpanel - make a new directory and put all your proxy script in that.. Thats all..
so when I go to that domain...it wont redirect to a subdomain? it will keep the www.whatever.com intact?
Yes. But you also have to update the nameservers at your registrar to use the ones your host specifies.
If you are on a shared account check your terms of service. Most hosts are smart enough to not allow proxies on shared hosts. Otherwise you could lose your account and not get it back.
Good point. I would suggest going with a VPS or dedicated server. Make sure you backup all your files as your host may terminate your account at any time. Before finding a host, call or email them and ask if they allow proxies.
