Its against logic, to add more content means to add more pages, if google somehow punished people for this it would make no sense.

No more pages is better not worse... You must have done something else as well

i have experience this same thing 3 times

i have added pages and all my rank drop from the top ranks

it will back soon but i am thinking its some type of penalty going on to adding more pages suddenly increasing pages looks un natural in todays algorithm?

Google definitely loves fresh contents and let it be unique, original and good for the human visitors. If at all there is a marginal drop in the PR, it would come back to its original level but if it is due to penalty, then analyze the reasons for the same...

    no is not
actually makes perfect sense....same link juice spread to more pages
people should add more pages slowly..and building links continuously

Also you should be making sure the content you are adding is relative. Perhaps you strayed away from the type of content that were on the pages that had the higher page rank?

If your site is about fishing, and then you added some pages about makeup and beauty, google might not like that.

There can be a lot of reasons for this. The most common is that your new pages have a lot of content duplicated from the other pages of your site, or, from pages of other sites.

If you make sudden changes to your site, expect Google to "put the site on hold" while it is being re-evaluated.
Many sites experience this when link building,
perhaps its the same when adding a lot of content at once.

Imagine the number of pages added to DigitalPoint forums. Must be hundreds each day so if Google were to penalize you for adding pages, DP wouldn't have been a hot place.

It also depends on how the site is doing over time.
I mean, in this example of DP, if many pages are added every day then google will probably not see anything special about it.

who said anything about a penalization?
loosing rankings doesn't mean is penalized for anything...

if the new pages that you add are unique and related to your site's content then there is no way ur ranings will drop but if the pages are copied and are unrelated then surelly no matter how many pages u will add google will not like you
