I asked this as a part of a longer thread but it was kind of buried in other info in my post, so... My new directory is a free deep link directory, no reciprocals or anything, and only pointing to article pages. I'm trying to build a huge collection of links to articles on as many topics as possible, and I'll be marketing it not only as a free deep link service for webmasters, but also promoting it to readers starting today as a place where they can find access to articles all across the Web, without dealing with sales pages and other garbage that often comes up in regular search engine results. I've been getting a lot of submissions from Suite 101 writers (as well as people here), b/c that's where I've mostly promoted things so far. But I'd like to get more articles listed as quickly as possible. Is it a "no no" to submit links on my own to articles on various sites? For instance, if I came across an article, could I include the title, url, and a one sentence description in my directory, or do I have to ask their permission first? I don't see why you'd need permission just to link to someone, but if it's an known issue, I don't want to go there... just thought it might be a nice way to spend a day growing it. Thanks! Jenn
no, Jenn - it's certainly not a no-no. In fact, you should do this since this would help you to select and include those article links whose quality you've personally verified. and, it would only help to improve the quality of links in your directory
I dont think it would be a problem as long as you dont republish the article. Maybe you could even write the one liner on your own.
Thank you. That's what I was hoping. I know of a lot of larger sites I'd love to add articles from for the readers' benefits, so now I'll go get started. Appreciate your help. Jenn
I plan to write the descriptions on my own... I'm a stickler about copyright issues since I'm a writer myself. Thanks for the added confirmation. Jenn
