I have started a new VBulletin 4 CMS website. I am thinking about adding a link directory like phpmydirectory or PhotoPost Classifieds to the site. The reason for adding the directory is twofold. 1. Perhaps since this is a new site and domain it might help internet surfers to find directory and perhaps take interest in forums, ect... 2. The possibility of building a useful directory over time for the niche market that I am focusing on. Do you think the addition of a directory is worth adding. I have heard diverse opinions on reciprocal links and not sure if this would be similar to adding links from my site that could have an adverse effect rather than helping.
