I noticed that whenever I add an image in my Tweets that it uses up my character space. Is there some kind of formula for this? I couldn't find out any info. as to how much many characters an image takes up.

The image is represented by a link in your tweet which takes up ~22 characters.

Uploading pictures to twitter by using 3d-party solutions sometimes makes it less than 22 characters. yfrog, for example, sometimes has links that are 16-18 characters long, because they omit the http:// at the beginning of their links. I prefer not to use yfrog, though, simply because having to take my followers to a different site to see my pictures seems to me like I'm wasting their time. If those extra 4-6 characters make a difference, though, you could consider yfrog.
