Adding Full News Posts to Wordpress Site - Need Ideas?

    Hey all,

I maintain numerous websites and have for sometime considered setting-up some sort of news auto-poster/aggregator that would automatically generate(create new posts) say full stories for a given subject from AP for example.

    Here are my questions/concerns:

Are there any plugins/scripts that can do this?

Is it legal? I know that all of the major news sites pass around the same AP articles and they are all very authoritive websites.

I know as soon as someone says aggregator you start thinking spam site, but that is not what I want at all. I merely want to add related news stories as they come off the wire to an otherwise completely original website/blog with unique content. Basically I would like to mock a major news service though on a smaller scale.

Does all of this make any sense and can you point me in the right direction of how I may further investigate my options here?

    Thank you for your help!

Nope, its a very bad idea. There was a wordpress plugin that scraped stuff from various rss feeds you set up but it got abused by people so they pulled it.

No, you can't post AP writings verbatim. They have a fleet of people scouring the web for that stuff. Folks like msnbc pay AP and Reuters for copy like that.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

Thank you Nigel! That does help a lot as I had a feeling that there would be some sort of copyright on the news articles(everything is copyrighted), so I guess I will just focus my thoughts on other projects.

Thank you again for the help.
