Hi, I'm not sure if this is coincidence but I added a fan page to one of my websites about a weeks ago. Since then 40 people have joined and I have made a few posts and one or two of the fans have. Today I looked and the rankings for words seemed higher than normal. I am using the Facebook widget where posts are displayed on my site so in effect I'm getting fresh content on daily if I update my page new content is appearing on my site too. Before my site might of gone weeks to months before anything new showed up. Its not a blog just a normal page. Can Google see this new content or not? Is it having an effect or is it my imagination... Perhaps if it doe's it would be a good tip. I would recommend a fan page though for certain sites, I have had quite a good response
I'm thinking that "G" can see this fresh content - but I'm not 100% sure of it. One thing about FB (and I use it as well as Twitter) - you can get direct traffic to your site. No much though.
Fan page is just another backlink with high authority (facebook) linking to your site. This is why your rankings increased.
Yes I thought perhaps the backlink would help.. It would be interesting if G could see the content from it or not - good if they do as its fresh daily
I guess googlebot visits to your site are now more frequent with FB, and FB also gives you more frequent updates, so that helps.
Well if I am not mistaken google does not see the Facebook content cause the widget you added is in javascript, Search Engines just ignore it =]
Wow I never even thought of this, fan pages on facebook. I think I might try it, how do you find people to join though? I mean people relevant to your niche of course.
