Adding category descriptions

I use phpLinkDirectory and there is an option to add descriptions to each category and subcategory. However, these words do not seem to be displayed on the webpage. Is there any value in entering these descriptions for every category?

    Tks!

    yes its called supplemental results

Depending on which version you have you may want to use
the meta tags and keywords for all catagories.

    thx

any unique content will help you stay out of supplementals and will help a lot, since directories usualyl dont have much unique content.
Besides meta description are what's usually displayed in search engine results.. :)
