Do you think it would be okay to add adsense to a template and than let people download and use the tempalte?

Im not sure if this okay, anyone have any info on if they have ever done this with a wordpress theme or website template.

If you supply a template with open acces to the source code you could have a detrimental impact on your adsense account if they put it somewhere which they do not allow so I would suggest you don't.

I wouldn't suggest keeping the adsense codes in the template, maybe you can add in a <--- 250 x 250 ad here ---> as a guideline..

Agreed. You dont want your pub-ID on anyone elses site where you have no control over content.

Its just too risky if you lose your account they don't pay what you have legitimately earned. Some people might maliciously get your account banned to reduce the competition its just not worth it.

I still think this may be a good idea. I mean look at all the people making plugins for wordpress.

Take for example the adsense deluxe plugin, they have an option where you can donate to them by displaying their ads a certain amount of time.

If only there was a way to build this into a wordpess theme...

I simply believe this is a very risky move. You are giving everyone the right to do anything with your account. They can click on it endlessly, (because they don't really have to care) or if you put this on wordpress themes then they might be using the theme on sites which aren't allowed by adsense.
