Adding a sports link in my signature @ DP will be beneficial?

I am confused about it Adding a sports link in my signature @ DP will be beneficial?

will it help to increase my rank with a specific keyword @ Google? or DP signature links are goods only for webmaster related links?

 

I was wondering the same, hopefully some seo expert know.

 

DP is a webmaster forum and no related sport niche, you can search on google with queries sport forum.

There is a sports section in DP as well... and so a relevant thread topic, with your posts in such a thread might help you carry some weight for your sports signature as well!

Of course, a completely dedicated sports forum would help you in your efforts... more effectively!

Personally I feel that Google devalued signature links from forums.
I was having about 22 backlinks from DP signatures, but they are gone now.

 

For me forums signatures are still effective but they are devalued by Google now.

 

ya, my all DP back links also gone now ....

 

Google don't value many links anymore , other search engines do though so they still have value.

 

It's unlikely to increase you page rank as most links in DP offer very little link value due to their prevalence, however it is always good from an internet marketing point of view and will open up your site to more potential customers. However the real benefit comes from the fact that Google bots regularly crawl DP forums meaning that every new link you post will encourage Google to keep visiting your site and responding more quickly to updated content

 

Forums still have weight on Google but it has less weight or impact in rankings.
