Adding a comment box to your product page. Good or bad?

I am thinking of adding the facebook comment box to my product page itself or a comment page for that product.

    Benefit #1 User Engagement.
Being able to answer customer queries on that page itself and also being able to showcase testimonials about the products if any.
The comments will obviously be moderated.

    Benefit #2 SEO

Do you think it's a good idea?

If you want to have a look at my site, it's The iVault - iPhone & iPad covers though I have not implemented this feature at the moment.
    It's completely custom coded.

It's a good idea, but the comments should be moderated for spam and/or non-sense comments (or your competitors commenting on your products :)

It's a great idea, provided you take control of comments & com mentors. I liked your website design.
#2 SEO: You have sufficient text to attract on your product page to attract search engine. I would recommend you to optimize website url.

    Thanks,
    Rajni

I would implement the comment box for both benefit #1 (user engagement) and #2 (seo). User engagement seems to now play a part in boosting your seo and rankings.

Also, allowing some neutral or negative comments to be posted actually gives a little more credibility to your product. Anyone who's trying to artificially boost the impression of their products are normally going to post only positive comments. Also, letting some genuine negative comments to post is more accurately representing your product overall. Just as long as it's not too much. Maybe 1 neutral/negative comment to every 10 positive comments.

What else I can say?.. That's a good idea, but for me it's more effective in a blog, because in an e-commerce site it more suitable for a moderated comment box so you can assure the quality and relevance of comments with you niche/product.

I thinks its a good idea. You will get the consumer views directly and can also get ideas from them by interacting with them. But of course comments should be moderated.

It's usually a good idea for your potential customers to talk about the product before they are buying,
but you can't guarantee the feedback left is good or not.
anyway you must review each comment first.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea. People will think twice before buying something when they see some negative comments on that products. Whereas if they don't see any comments at all, they might be fooled to buy it.
