I was wondering if anyone could help me with the following- Which is the method to add a blog to an existing website? I mean a blog of the site. A brief or detailed guide on how to do it. Answer specific to Godaddy would be helpful.

I want to add a blog to a website which is hosted on Godaddy. The key information I need is how to add a blog(free) to an existing site Godaddy or others.

Just add a new page and named it as blog, then use some blog templates for that blog page...

You can use wordpress for bloging its easy to use, you can ask in godaddy if they have any script for one click install if they have they will tell you and if you need more help provide us with more info (what you got, where you want to install it, do you already have a site runing and you want to create a blog for the site, this kind of information.) so we know extacly what you want.

if your host is using cpanel then there is a built in function under scripts that will install Wordpress with one click. Very straight forward. This will set your blog up for you and provide you with login details.

You can also manually create a folder called Blog inside you root folder where your main website resides.Upload any blog script (i prefer wordpress) and install it.So now you have a blog on your website with this url - http://yourwebsite.com/blog/.Its simple.

i thinks it more easier for you to just create a folder after <root>,
so it will be like this : http://www.<root>.com/blog
and then you can install WP or Drupal to your /blog folder.

Its not complicated at all to add blogs to your site. First of all install the blogs in subdirectory of your hosting via softaculous. Then add the link to that to your primary website. Bingo ! here you go

Add Wordpress to your site, if you have FTP accessibility, you could create a directory "/blog/" under root directory, and upload the Wordpress there.

    Hi vijay,
You can install worpress with few clicks within your GoDaddy account. I knew it because recently I did this job for one of my customer. Once you've installed it, just connect the main website with your blog url.. It's like creating a tab called blog within your website then connect the tab to your blog's url. Hoprethis helps you. If you still don't know how to install and do this stuffs, just PM me and I'll see what I can do for you here...

If installing a blog is a bit complicated task, you can use a custom domain name with popular blogging services.

For example Tumblr allows to do that:
    tumblr.com/docs/en/custom_domains

Create an add-on domain blog.yourdomain.com and just fasten it.

    It is just another way...

wow a lot of people here should have said nothing, here are some quick steps to install wordpress in a blog folder on godaddy.
    click on webhosting
click on launch for desired site
click on install apps/wordpress (upper right hand side)
    click on install now
select site from available sites and then next
create data base name and password (the name is just for your reference, write down database password for future use)
next step is to create a name, the name you choose will be the url, if you name it /blog then your url will be sitename.com/blog
Tip: make sure you do not currently have a file or folder named bolg or blog.htm etc.. this will conflict with the viewing of your pages and maybe the installation
fill in admin name etc.. (tip: don't pick "admin") and finish, wait a little while to access. GoDaddy will email you your login url or you can access it from "manage my applications.

to make the blog look similar to the site I normally install thesis which is a paid framework and try to use as many configuration options as I can from the original site. I can almost always match a site using it.

it depends on where blog (domain name) you want to redirect. E.g. if you already have a domain nae at godaddy then want to add it to a specific hosting, you can start by:
    1. click your account
    2. see your domain list
    3. checklist the domain you want to add to hosting
    4. click nameserver
    5. choose one of the options.

Thanks you for your replies especially jadeslair. I created a sub-domain for blog and then installed Wordpress. I had also contacted Godaddy and they were also helpful, although their email reply usually took 12 or more hours. As many of you said, it was mostly easy.
