I would like your views on the following please.

Say if you were in a position where you have invested either a substantial amount of money into getting a site custom coded or done all of the coding yourself, and you know that one of the sections of the site would be a blog, which one of these would you do?

    1. Use wordpress for the blog section, for so many obvious reasons.

    or

    2. Still code or get coded your own blogging platform.

To be honest i cant see why a site would need to build its own blogging platform but i see some sites doing it, some of the sites are a few years old and maybe dont want to switch over.

Personally i feel that say even if you spent 50k on getting a site developed or did it all yourself to an equal amount if you were paying for it, that it would still make sense to use wordpress or an equally good established blogging platform than building your own.

People always talk about not reinventing the wheel.

What are your personal views on a situation like this? I see even some very large worldwide organisations choose the wordpress option rather than building their own.

I see it only as an option for large sites with lots of cash to spend. The advantages would be establishing a competitive advantage and offering something other sites don't. As well as a uniqueness that could help out their brand.

Install Wordpress on a folder or subdomain and link to it from your navigation menu.
