1 pay your webhost or no site to display ads 2 dont be a copycat which is so annoying 3 spend more time on YOUR sites and less on cnn, yahoo, espn, playboy, etc
I wish to publicly state an apology here as I didnt see my user CP to that person who wrote something - I didnt realized and I am sorry.
1) Do not break the TOS (especially clicking on your own ads) 2) Keep your visitors wanting more, this will make them more inclined to either return to your site or click your ads or both. 3) Search engine visitors are free visitors build better quality links to your site to get better SE rankings.
1- Test new things! Try even what you don't think will work, I ended up using only one ad, BELOW the fold, and that's the best combination for me so far! 2- Don't step into gray area, and report those who break the TOS, let's keep adsense a good business. 3- Patience and hard work, and don't forget to let the world know about your site!
1. Content 2. Rich and unique contents 3. Don`t try to fool Google with fraud actions. They are better to find out cheats!
forget about the bells and whistles, concentrate on good original content, and making a simple sticky site.
Good content Visitors interested in your content Good communication with the PPC/Affiliate prog (They do want you to succeed)
Actually, I beg to differ. I just recently started using a javascript to track my ad clicks as a goal in Google Analytics, and it turns out I get a much higher CTR on my ads from visitors who came to my site by way of other organic links. Not link trades, but voluntary links people place to my site. The best so far was one source that brought me five visitors and every single one left via an ad after many pageviews. So that brings me to my tips: 1) Make your site so good that people actually want to tell each other about it on their webpages. You want to "wow" people so that they have to say on their webpages, "hey everyone, check this out!" 2) Experiment with positions/colors and definitely give Ad Links a try if you haven't yet. 3) Dont' separate ads from content with borders.
1) Stop with the ifs and go for it I've spent too much time wondering WOWOMGBB IF CTR * 2 && CPM 1000'S && CPC 50+ FTW. The web is older than my concern of the day. The print media is older than everything that breaths today! What works is there, learn, absorb and do it. (and that includes innovation!) 2) If you advertise, clicks will come. I had a blog with 20 unique posting/articles making 2 or 3 cents a week. I've added 50 pages to it, and made 2 new websites on different subjects. Today I am making ~1 a day! This is a variation of "content is king". 3) It *is* possible. And just like everything in life that you want to see happening, needs dedication and hard work.
Here's another interesting factoid: since I started tracking my ad clicks through Google Analytics, I've learned that RETURNING visitors are about 50% more likely to click my ads than new visitors.
Do you mean intentionally introducing a misspelled keyword? I did it after I found people coming to a post I had (unintentionally) introduced a misspelling into. I have done it some, not a lot. If I mention a product / brand name 6-8 times in links in a post, I might misspell one. Just curious if others do this.
yup, i do the misspelled and typo keyword intentionally. It is much less competitive and can bring you good traffic. However, it might make you site looks unprofessional since you should've spell check your content. I usually put typo in my meta tag and footer. You can use overture to check which typo is being search most and target it. i am doing a project on typo of most traffic website. I've just start a few day but the result is impressive. However, i belive my site will be banned by SE soon..so don't waste your time on it
very good point by samskpunk here are my 3 tisp for noobies specially - 1. Do not target too competitive words 2. try to find a niche on which u can build a site with around 20 pages atleast 3. use blogs, regularly update them and use ping to get ur site indexed. Ofcourse also use google sitemap.
I'm really glad to see that this thread has done so well. I bet this is a great help to many people. Thanks everyone for taking part.
Don't focus on Adsense, Focus on Content, Focus on Traffic if you manage that you'll make a mint with Adsense every time
