hey guys, if I have download a premade css template, and want to "add a page" and what I mean by that is, let's say as an example my site will be called www website . com, if I want to add a page so that the surfer can see a link like "products" or "about us" or any other page that I create that stays within my site ....how do I do that? the templates already has 5 links on what is like a menu bar, as an example they are typically "home, product, services, about, contact us" common on most sites..... So if I were to have the " about" page link to "www website . com/about" which would be an additional page within my site, I don't know how to initiate the "about" page, and once I do create the "about page" how do I link it using dreamweaver? anyone have an idea? I know this is so common on almost all sites, so it is I imagine such a simple thing to do, I simply don't know how
Hello AMFsound, This is easy to do and I am glad I can help you out... First off I noticed you said something about http://www.domain.com/about You do realize that if you are going to be using just the /about then you are going to have to be working with php files or a certain script right, because the normal and easy way would make it http://www.domain.com/about_us.html. That is just simply creating a html file with the "about_us" name and will tell you how to do that. Basically all you do is just go to your navigation bar there and in Dreamweavers design mode you can change the name of it to whatever you want. After that highlight the link name you just made and go to the bottom and it will come up and give you options to change to bold and directly to the right of that it will say Link and Target, just put in the link section /about_us.html and it will change that text you highlight to link to the about_us.html file. And then you just change the body and all the sections you want to appear on the about us page and then save the entire file as about_us.html instead of index.html and your done. If you have any other questions just hit me up on here or feel free to add me on Windows Live.
Hi Shawn, Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm fighting my eyes closing since it's is almost 2 am .....but I did open DW and saw and highlighted the potential link just as you mentioned, and saw the link option on the lower portion of DW. And I clearly understood the "save as" mention... damn Shawn, that was very much appreciated ! ..I'll try it through fruition tomorrow....I appreciate the step by step, as that is what I really needed..... Pillow time!! thanks shawn!
