Add-on Domains?

I can't figure out how to configure an add-on domains in Cpanel, or how it works.
My Cpanel says "An addon domain allows you to reach a subdomain when entering the name of the addon domain into a browser. This means that you can host additional domains from your account, if allowed by your hosting provider. Addon Domainsare relative to your account's home directory. The icon signifies your home directory which is home/myaccount."

Does this mean that it is a sub-domain? If my site is called mydomain.com and my new site is mydomain2.com, how will I manage the files in them separately. I guess I don't understand much about this, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have a look at the tutorial called "Create an Addon Domain" on this page:

    http://www.bonsairack.com/tutorials/cpanel.php

The Addon domain dets its own folder. So If you have domain.com and want to add domain2.com .

you would have a directory called domain2, or whatever you call it, that will server this url www.domain2.com
