Hi there. I got this spanish blog (http://www.viajesycosasasi.com/) and as you can see, i have no links on the sidebar, but on a links page located on the menu.

Some bloggers have told me to add others blogger's links on the sidebar, but i want to keep my design different and clean. That's why i have a page specifically for links.

My concers is why they told me to do that? does it is something related to SEO or what?

regards and sorry for my english :D

I imagine it's because of the "Trust" rank Google places on your site, it helps with the users experience. Makes your site more valuable as a resource for the visitor.

There are thousands of blogs out there with no advertising, no links, at all!
It depends on your blog and your market.

Google does not care about links in your sidebar, but again, too many will devalue your blog's value in google. Weird way, but that is google.

I read an article that said for a new blog to not have any outbound links or advertising at all for the first 30 to 60 days.
This way, google looks at your blog and sees no outbound links, thus no advertising, thus it will or should rank your blog higher.

Bottom line is, do you want links or not?

on the side bar is better, because you will get all the links from all separate pages. in this case, the quality of back links is very large in one site.

Yu can add Recent Post / Popular Links widget to display on the sidebar of your web page.

the separate page doesn't have PR, so it won't be effective
