Hey, I'm considering whether I actually need cPanel anymore and am I paying out money that could be spent better elsewhere. I only really use cPanel for addon domains as it's simple and creates email/ftp at the same time. The only difference I can see with WHM is that it creates an account for each domain when you add a new domain, however does it also add an ftp for that account and associate any email addresses with it? Thanks
WHM and cPanel are part of the same product, WHM is the reseller/server management interface while cPanel is for the end user. If you create an account via WHM then yes it does create FTP for the account, it also configures it so you can login via cPanel which is where you set up email addresses.
Some people prefer the reseller package over the simple shared package just because they can host all their domains in separate cPanel accounts, thus spreading the resource usage among more accounts instead all in one account. Considering all shared hosts have CPU/RAM limits per each account, this is a good strategy.
I need to agree with [HB]Rob, while with cPanel you can do many things like hosting many websites in the same /public_html/ folder, with WHM you can create different accounts in different folders but mind that can be more expensive than the normal WHM and sometimes the price doesn't cover the real utility of this service if you are not a reseller. I have a client that is using one account to host 56 websites, the public_html is a list of websites and he's managing everything in a very great way.
with cpanel u can use addon domain n limit is decieded by ur hosting provider, while with WHM if u r reselling the hosting you can also give separate control panel to your clients.
WHM and Cpanel Are Same Products or script , if u want to get free control panel then try parallel plesk !!! or if u want cheap then directadmin !!!
