Hi there, I am a newbie to Adwords. There is a button next to summary and keywords that allows you to create a few variations on your text ads.

I am currently running two campaign:

    1) targeted keywords with a few ad variations

    2) Board match keywords with no variation

Today I tried to add a few more keywords using the keyword tool provided by Google. Since I am spending 0.06 for each keywords, some of them are too expensive for me (0.13-0.5)so I simply put them to group 2) and see if it is going to make any difference.

Out of my surprise, those keywords that cost me $0.13-$0.15 in group 1) jumps to $0.3-$5.00 in group 2.

Both group have the same landing page and they have just launched for a couple of days (so I guess CTR doesn't really matter in this case).

So my question is: how much would ad variation effect the min bid?

High minimum bids are Google's way of telling you that you're doing something wrong - i.e. your landing page/ad copy isn't relevant enough or you're not getting a decent CTR.

Ad variations do affect the minimum bid. Increase relevancy, CTR and things like your landing page quality.
