Ad unit & Link unit - Which is better to use and when?

Hi guys,

I'm new with adsense and I'd like to know from experienced adsense users which makes you more money? And when? Can you please give an example when one should use Ad unit and when Link unit?

And referral buttons? How do they work? Do they pay good?

Link Unit works better when it comes in form of horizontal format in my opinion

 

Wow, your bottom 728x90 banner is just asking for a TOS violation like that!
So close to links... talk about invalid clicks my friend.

 

The link is sooo big that you can't miss it and get invalid clicks.
2 weeks and I don't get many clicks from it so it should be OK

 

It's depend on the layout of the web site. If you have many links in a side you should use link unit at that place and ad unit should be placed on the content of the web site

 

It's just my opinion, I would honestly mail the adsense team and find out... the few clicks it would bring isn't really worth the termination of your account.

 

I have added a <br> tag so there is no confusions
And yes it's not worth taking the risk

Link units are easier to blend in with a site but keep in mind that when using a link unit a user has to click on a link in the link unit and then click on a link in the results page in order to receive a paid click.

When using an ad unit a user simply has to click once on the add to receive a paid click.

I think link units allow greater level of discrepancy, however, on the whole, I think ads work better in terms of CTR. It depends on what kind of site you have that will determine whether you choose to go for the ads or link units.
