In the Ad Target, we are allowed to set our link to any categories we like or we must target it to the right category? for instant, my site is all about web design so can I set the ad to web hosting? I know web hosting pay more Thanks
Occationaly, I do change categories based on what my visitors are searching on my sites. Although I did not get this frm YPN I am under the impression that we are allowed to choose the category we think our visitors are interested in. No1 knows your visitors' taste more than you.
I cannot even get most of my targeting to work. I set the urls yesterday and today 95% of them are still showing ads based on the pages content, instead of the targeting subjects I choose
I read some posts. I thought that YPN targeting may have improved. So I thought I would try targeting again on about 20 pages. After 2 weeks, I have removed targeting again. The results were worse that when not using any targeting. Nothing has changed. YPN should call it "Non-targeting". Or, "Less-money targeting". Some say YPN just doesn't have the ads. Some say they do, but haven't a clue. They've gotta have smart people, just like Google. Don't you think? So, maybe they ARE simply constrained by a lack of advertisers. I didn't believe this before. The end result is - there are more posts about "going back to Adsense" than there are about "great YPN targeting". I still think YPN's greatest problem is the ads they serve - just not relevant. NOBODY wants to spend hours and hours trying to "coax" appropriate ads out of YPN. It's such a waste of time, when one could be creating new content, which is almost instantly targeted perfectly by Adsense (usually). All of this speaks to just what a powerhouse Google has become. They are so good, they cannot be overcome. And can you imagine MSN becoming competitive, with their corporate culture? Not gonna happen. Yet Google does need competition, so they don't overwhelm us. Rambling now, I'll stop.
Totally disagree. You still do not understand the $$$ that yahoo gives. It can get you fainted in one day. With google, it is constant. You won't get crazy amount.
"You still do not understand the $$$ that yahoo gives." I do understand the money YPN gives ME! Only too well. What YPN pays others is not my concern. Just me. After 5 months, I don't think my YPN EPC will ever make me feel faint. Only a quadrupled CTR would do that.
------------------------------ More and more threads now show folks changing many if not all sites back to AdSense, I myself have now gone back to AdSense 60%. Why ? YPN does NOT pay me any crazy amounts. It did for the first month I was with them, then EPC started dropping like a rock. Your right about AdSense being steady, but as far as YPN paying great rates, I don't see it on my sites, the CTR and Targeting is so bad, that the little amount of clicks and the EPC I get with those clicks, is what is making me switch back more to AdSense all the time. There are now only two categories that I am still seeing fair EPC with YPN....
I still have sites with adsense and adlinks is paying good sometimes. I can't deny it. But overall, it still pays less than ypn for my side. And the most important thing is, i am using 250x250 or 300x250 ads format and adsense ALWAYS SHOWS ME BIG UGLY MODIFIED ads which i am very unhappy of. It makes the design very ugly. Who wants weird fonts on the site with blank spaces all over? At least not for me.
targeting will get better. adsense's targeting was off when it first was released too. adsense also has 3 years on the ypn too. give is some time.
