do any of you use ad targeting and blocking successfully? i have read so much opinion on both sides - some swear by targeting and blocking and others say none is better.

my issue is my revenue has declined by over 60% since the july, and my traffic is steady and slightly growing.

i just got of the phone YPN support who said in the new yahoo search marketing (panama) that advertisers now have the ability to reduce bids on content match (which gives the adds for YPN) (just likes sartpricing adsense).

so taking all this crap into account - can i find a way to use ad blocking and targeting to increase my RPC? if so, how? any help would be appreciated - thanks in advance....

Targeting should be experimented with if you are not getting relevant ads. YPN also has a glitch where you cannot block urls displayed without the ".com" or urls where the advertiser has used and uppercase letters in the display url i.e. Blue-Widgets.com.

YPN has been losing a lot of its advertisers and the only way to keep the problem from getting worse is to allow separate pricing for Yahoo Search and Content Match (YPN). This will probably get some of the larger advertisers who had dropped out of (YPN) to rejoin using lower bids (as adsense allows).

YPN payouts have been dropping for some time now and will probably come close to meeting adsense in the future. Adsense is already paying more per click in some sectors - and Adsense's CTR is usually higher.

Obviously you just have to experiment and go with whatever is netting you more. I have over 60 sites and there is no single "right way" - its really going to depend on the site. Just remember that you shouldn't just look at the payout per click, but combine it with the CTR. $1 a click might sound good, but adsense or targeting/non-targeting might produce 2-3X as many clicks with the same traffic and net you more.

I just had to change the content of two of my sites due to no ads anymore that were relevant. However, I use ad targetting and until this happened, they have been *fairly* accurate for me. For the websites that they don't target correctly, blocking leaves no ads to be shown. I would rather have non-relavent ads showing than no ads, so I don't use blocking. If the site is only getting .10$ clicks, then I change the whole subject matter of the page. My $.02
