Ad Review Times ?

As a newbie to Adwords I'm having to wait, like every other newbie, for my ads to be reviewed, even though all systems are 'Go' and everything's greenlighted and hunky dory. Google doesn't break the bad news to us and lets the support forums tell us gently, after an hour or two's hunting round the internet, that they're using their usual tactics of FUD to keep us guessing i.e. no clear indication anywhere that our ads are being reviewed, just the impression that everything's fine.

What I want to know is, once I get past the newbie stage, is there an element of trust given to my account? How long is the waiting time for ad reviews, for example if I want to trial a new wording on an ad? And is it all FUD and everything kept silent and then a day or two later after submitting a new ad evrything unexpectedly springs into life?

And how does the ad review time compare to Yahoo and MSN?

    Many thanks

I've been using Adwords for a while (spent close to $15,000 within 2 years) and most of my ads get approved almost instantly. Google uses keywords to determine if ads need human review, i.e. if your ad text contains words such as "download", "illegal", "warez", "xxx" etc. then it will queue up for a review. This has happened to plenty of my ads and the review has usually been completed within a day or two. Though their systems seem to be pretty accurate as the majority of my ads that have gone for a human review have been declined.

Even older accounts sometimes have to wait a while before their ads get approved. Not much to do if your account is new or not, more with some keywords in your ads that flag it for human review. Most ads will get approved pretty much instantly.

    Thanks!

It only took a few days but I'd read about it taking weeks and couldn't figure out why.

Sometimes it takes a week. That's when I email Google with a friendly reminder that they have forgotten about reviewing ads. By the way, Yahoo can be just as bad and ad reviews can take a week sometimes. At least Google serves your ads on its own network, albeit not 100% of possible servings, for most ads under review.
