Hi, I just started a new webmaster forum and decided to place the less amount of ads as not to annoy my visitors and make them the less intruisive. I have placed a vertical adsense banner on the right which I think can get me the most clicks while not annoying my visitors. What do you think of this ad placement at http://www.webmasterground.com ? Thanks
The ads are kind of hidden on the right side of the site. Maybe try adding a horizontal ad below the header? IT's not annoying and it'll be more visible there..
Looks fine to me I would consider putting one in the footer as well.... When your users get to the bottom of a page, they tend to want to click somewhere!
Put one small unit above the login button. And add a link unit to the leaderboard. Add another unit at the footer.
Just my opinion, but I rather have an ad ANYWHERE horizontally rather than vertically like that. Pretty much every forum I go to takes advantage of using virtually the whole width of the browser and it just seems really odd to have that on the side which results in the boards shrinking horizontally. I think if anything, its actually more intrusive. Again, thats just how I see it. Also, after looking at it a second time I would say that if you plan on keeping the ads vertical like that, try putting it on the left side. I found myself reading the posts and never even looking at the ads. I guess its because we read from left to right, so as soon as we get to the end of a line of text we just move down to the next line without ever looking at what is to the right of the text. If you had it on the left of the page however, I think the viewer's eye would be almost forced to look at it, even involuntarily, for at least a moment.
True. But I am not using the left side just for the google ads. I am also using it to display the last 10 freelance jobs from project4hire.com and the last 10 ad space for sale on adspace-auctions.com Anyway, thank you for the tips.
