I have been developing a web application for the past couple of years now that will be launching either late this summer or early fall and was curious what my options would be as far as ad networks. Since initial conception I have been thinking that I was going to use adsense, but I am hearing from a few different sources that adsense would not be a good choice to use for a web based application since the content is dynamically generated and in some cases takes a back seat to strict user interface (little to no keywords for adsense to be able to display relative ads). Some sources have said to use admob as opposed to adsense, but I'm not so sure about this because the application is not a native mobile application, it is a web server application with an adaptive design for mobile users... I'm looking to clear up some confusion as to which ad networks I would be able to / should use for this type of product?
have you thought about selling the advertising yourself? Help you keep more since there wont be a commission to pay.
This is the ultimate goal that we are shooting for. I was going to use an affiliate at launch to help pay for some of the operating expenses until we developed a solid marketing plan for selling custom ads. However I may rethink this and just focus on building a solid user base, then reach out to a few vendors directly once we have proven traffic statistics.
