I have heard that a few networks sometimes fill your inventory with CPA campaigns when they have insufficient advertiser fill. Does anybody have any experience of this? If so, do they pay you on a CPA revshare basis or using some other way? Just interested...
you posted this in affiliate programs but it sounds like you're talking about CPM ads being replaced by ads that don't pay based on impressions, but on actions? it's possible, and some networks are a hybrid, but I don't think it's quite as simple as if a company runs out of CPM ad inventory that they switch to CPA banners... if that is the case, they're the minority of ad networks.
Yes, that is what I mean. I was wondering if, in such circumstances that CPA were served, which one would be the most lucrative for the publisher. Would networks still pay on a CPM basis regardless of CPA results?
it depends on the individual network. however... banner ads generally convert horribly, which is why they pay so little. if you want to do CPA, do CPA directly. you can get conversions a lot higher without using banners.
