I've noticed in some templates code like this: <script type="text/javascript"><!-- google_ad_client = "pub-##################"; google_ad_width = 336; google_ad_height = 280; google_ad_format = "336x280_as"; google_ad_type = "text_image"; google_ad_channel =""; google_color_border = "ffffff"; google_color_bg = "FFFFFF"; google_color_link = "660033"; google_color_url = "000000"; google_color_text = "333333"; //--></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"> </script> Code (markup): With this code, if I just replace the pub #, will I be paid for ad clicks, or do I actually need to create the ad in my Google AdSense account tools?
modifying the code in any way, even if you feel that it's minor, is enough for google to ban your account. I always recommend to all my friends to not modify the code, follow the rules, and get your code from the Adsense site.
nothing will happen a while ago, i got a site from someone and simply replaced the code, i got paid, and still using it
There's no difference between creating the ad code in AS account and just changing an id in someone's else code - as long as you do not want to use G's AdManager.
Okay, so I'm getting mixed answers here. The real question I'm asking is: Is it a requirement to 'create' an ad with the AdSense website, or am I able to generate ads manually using the code?
According to the TOS, there is a requirement for you to create your ads only with the website. Others have suggested that they have broken the rules by editing their code and "nothing happened so it must be ok" ...
