Which type of people are generally "ad blind"? And, which type of people are generally more likely to click on ads? Like, targeting people in an entertainment niche vs. an affiliate marketing niche?
tech-savvy visitors like webmasters are more prone to ad-blindness. Less-savvy, 'average' users often can't tell the difference between an ad and a regular link. i would think it's safe to say you would get greater CTR with an entertainment site than an affiliate marketing site, all else being equal.
Just look at it this way, if DP (with all its content) was a health site, it would be raking in 100x its current revenue.
Adsense is becoming so usual no for all websites that I think more and more people are becoming ad blind
I've read sth that says 468x60 is the shape which suffers ad blindness mostly, simply because it's one of the oldest and commonly used format therefore everybody is subconsciously familiar with the idea that it is an ad so ignores it.
I think that people are definitely getting ad blind because they are so used to seeing the same look on every page. Thats why I think that image ads will perform better overall as people get used to seeing the same google text ads.
