Hello Guys, My Site was finally indexed by google about 25 days ago for once it was properly indexed by google but not sure about bing. Nowadays its showing my post description. i am very upset as i dont wanna have low traffic due to this reason. I use blogger (modified Awesome Inc. Template). I also wonder whether i avoid any sort of meta tags for seo on my blog. Thanx.
Is the site you are seeing in the serp the link to that particular post, or your homepage? Do you have a description filled in the Blogger control panel? I'm not a Blogger expert, but I do know you can use tags to manipulate the SERP output of title, descr, etc.
ohh sorry i was about to post it just forgot about it,here it is anyway. Google Search result -- http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=e...om&aq=0&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=cricketfame.b&gs_rfai= Bing -- http://www.bing.com/search?q=Cricket+Fame&go=&form=QBLH&filt=all&qs=n&sk=&sc=2-11 Bing 2 -- http://www.bing.com/search?q=cricketfame.blogspot.com&go=&form=QBRE&filt=all&qs=n&sk=
Ok yeah, so even searching the URL brings up the post. Normally a keyword search bringing up a result to your keyword-related post will have a description from the post, but a search for the URL will be from the meta description. How long has the description been set, did you recently add/change it?
Your meta tags are all messed up. You have <meta content='cricket, live sports, live tv,live cricket streaming, online tv,star cricket, schedule, fixtures, world cup 2011,ind vs nz,test,odi,t20,ten cricket, ten sports' name='keywords'/> I have never seen it used with the single quotation marks. Use the double quotation marks just to be sure. And you don't have a meta description tag, sometimes when this is missing google selects text on the page to be used as the description. In your case it is using the first line on the page. I suggested one for you below. And some of the keywords you chose have nothing to do with cricket, choose words that you think people will be using when they are looking for cricket information. Use the formats I suggested below <meta name="description" content="Cricket Fame provides comprehensive cricket coverage and information including scores, stats, fixtures, news and player information."> <meta name="keywords" content="ricket, live sports, live tv,live cricket streaming, online tv,star cricket, schedule, fixtures, world cup 2011,ind vs nz,test,odi,t20,ten cricket, ten sports">
there is an option to put description in settings so i dont think we need to add code for it. secondly, quotation marks works me in hyperlinking and alt text in html then whats wrong with having in meta tags?
I have never seen anyone use single quotation marks in the head of the document. yes you use it in links and in alt text but not in meta tags. I don't know what the description in the settings does but it is not generating meta tags for you. Its just suggestions. you can take it or leave it
