    Hi

Im just starting out using Google Adwords, and thinking about my search terms

I want a keyword to be "THA" so when someone types THA into google it shows ad.

Question: will my ad also show if they search for "thatcher" for example??
or is it just the exact term I have set up??

    Regards
    Matt

No. Even on broad it shouldn't.

On Broad it will trigger "Thatcher"

That is why you can afford to not put any plural keywords in when using the Broad match type. Keep it at Exact as SquareCat said.
