I'm after recommendations for accounting software, it must be able to cope with the UK taxation system. This is for my own us and not to sell. Ideally free or at least cheap. Thanks
Sage Line 50 is the proverbial Dog's you-know-what as far as I'm aware. If Open Source integration (osCommerce) is of interest, go Quickbooks - I've seen many contributions for QB out there though not for Sage unfortunately.
Thanks T0PS, do you know if Sage is easy to learn (from a non accountant point of view) and the cost?
QuickBooks is strongly recommended -easy to use and it has many tools for your business - I'll be buying their software shortly.
Ring em for the cost but I think it's expensive. Ut's all forms you fill out so I figure it's quite easy. They allow plug ins so you can synch your data with other apps as well but Sage I believe only allows one-way syncing whiclt QB does both ways. But don't take my word for it, it's been a year since I looked into the matter. I get the impression Sage is the UK's preferred package whilst QuickBooks is the US' favourite. See Kazaa for demo's
I hear that these guys are quite good www.digitalpoint.com - tee hee Actually I can recommend MYOB, I use it all the time www.myob.co.uk
Are you looking to manage/bill clients online for services? I use SecondSite.biz -- an 'online invoicing & web based billing service'. They've got a FREE version that limits you to a specific number of clients so you can get a feeling for them without any initial upfront investment. Good luck.
Thanks for the info folks. All I need it for is doing my own accounts, invoicing isn't required initially but may be in the future. I'll check out the various recommendations.
