I'm working in Windows. I want a simple program that will produce accounting reports from my entries, as well as calculate business ratios., e.g. gross profit margin ratio. I do not deal with inventory, so don't need that aspect. I looked at a shareware prorgram called Instant CashBook 3 but it doesn't do the ratios. (Any other opinions on this program are also welcome.)

I'm about to go web design freelance in sept..i've got quicken personal plus from a magazine lol, installed the trial version today. It's okay.
I've been trained on MYOB version 13..so i'm thinking myob accounting plusv16(which is the current version)..might be what i get. Especially if i do register for gst. MYOB is pretty simple to use,but then again i've studied bookkeeping...

MYOB produces detailed reports which you can customise with business letterheads...and i'm sure it can do business ratios..you can customise the chart of accounts for both retail and service business's (just delete the ones that don't apply and rename existing ones)

I've never considered a freeware option before...

btw you can get student versions at a cheaper price..(if your a student lol)
If i do find something that does ratios..i'll post back here ok.

another thought,..it isn't hard to work out business ratios yourself.
perhaps google "business ratios list" or something to that effect until you find a list of the formulaes for working it out.

    hope thats helped somewhat.. :)
