I just got an email from google saying that my site has too many invalid clicks. But I think it is more due to the sudden surge in traffic. My question is should I leave the banner on the web site or should I remove it until this matter is resolved? thanks
When I asked adsense support about spikes in traffic (after for example promotion) they told me it didn't matter how large the traffic spikes are and that just analyze all click activity all the same. To me it seems odd though how many people seem to get banned shorly after doing heavy promotion of their websites.
I very much doubt it was due to the traffic spikes, i usually don't have more than 100 uniques a day at my site, then one day i got on shoutwire frontpage, and BAM 14,000 uniques in 1 day... Didn't even get a email from google asking about it... I think someeone has been clickin theyre own ads
I really did not click any. I think since the topic of my site becomes a hot topic. That is why the site is getting, not much, 20K page views from low teens. I have left the banner on here just in case they want to look at the placement and have data to analyze.
You better remove the ads from your site. Then you can ask Google to take you back because you have removed the ads that might have caused the invalid clicks.
Once again... someone gets caught and first thing they do is run to a forum to try to fix their mess... Kudos to Google for doing their job.
There is really no point in leaving the banners on your site while you're appealing your ban. I would recommend removing it. Question: Was this a Myspace site?
about 1-2 days... but really it depends on the site that is applied for theymioght not even bother to reply
Just out of curiosity, did you get caught right after you clicked a few of your ads (aka "surge in traffic") or did they wait till you reached $100?
