woops I forgot I had an account there and just received a message I "won" an auction.

It's a domain with a dmoz listing and some 100 backlinks. A domain name used for the same niche my main website is about.

Should I 301 the domain towards my main website or will that do not much good?

my main website has no dmoz listing although I recently (actually today) jumped to the first page on google.com for my main keyword phrase.

    please advise...

you can always sell it, develop it or redirect it. However the dmoz listing will last 5 seconds with a redirect...

    That is true.

DMOZ does not allow any site that is either a mirror (same content and stuff) or redirects to another site. That DMOZ listing which give the site some value will be gone. I'd take your main site and put it on that domain and then make the other domain u had before and redirect it to this one. Just my 2 cents

DMOZ will still pick up that the domain has changed hands and will review it's new content and ensure that the listing is still relevant.

I'd create a site that meets the listing and use it to build inbound links and traffic to your core business.

I'd check the category where the site was listed. If it's still listed, you might want to consider putting up some relevant content as suggested.

Expired domains are automatically removed from the live listings and subject to a review before it's relisted in the directory. if it's too obvious that the site has undergone major changes (is now a doorway) and the content is no longer relevant, it may get deleted.

    Good luck.
