Accepting Payments from non-credible members... Is there a safe way?

    Hello all,

I believe that this is an issue affecting us all and i wanted to start yet another thread so that we can fully cover the issue.

I have been in the business of buying/selling lots of stuff ranging from articles to domains or sites. So, as one can assume, I have had a couple of unfair disputes. Is there any way to keep yourself safe?

I have heard different point of views, so I am going to list them here and await for your comments.

    1) Escrow is the best way to know that you will get your money. However, it has those hefty fees and if it's not for a big amount of money - it's not worth it.

    2) Paypal - Masspay. I hear that buyers cannot file a dispute on Masspay. Is that true?

    3) Paypal - The new personal feature. Again... no disputes and no fees? Any ideas?

Would love to hear your thoughts on all the above.

I know that there are other services other than paypal that give more security to the seller, however, Paypal is the king and unfortunately if we want more sales, we got to accept that fact.

Also, another good way to stay safe is to stay away from buyers with no credibility. But again... that's cutting down our customers base by a whole lot. Sometimes it's "better safe than sorry" but at other times the case might differ... There has to be a way.

Looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

    Thanks in advance!

Masspay is generally used by affiliates to pay to the bulk of their members in one go and so I am not sure if it is possible to initiate charge backs for the same.

As regards the personal transaction, I have heard people initiating charge backs for the same too, and surprisingly Paypal seem to have entertained those requests as well! :(

    Regards,

It is crazy if you ask me. Especially the fact that paypal won't even consider paying you back after a dispute even if you supply them with solid evidence of delivering.

    I wish I knew Digital - That's just what I've heard.

Can anyone shed some light on these?

Adding a 4th idea that I've heard. Again, not sure if any of them are true - just listing them here and awaiting for your comments.

    4) Paypal Asking buyers to open and close a dispute - they say a dispute cannot be re-opened.

To me even if that's true, the chances that the buyer will agree are slim. I know I would. I am all for seller safety - since I am an honest seller - however, I can understand why such a thing wouldn't be fair to the buyer.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts mainly on the first 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the payments are done through paypal, and its users mostly give positive feedback . .
