I finally got the email! I'm in!

I got all set up last night and have it running on one low traffic / newer site that only has one ad unit. There seems to be some disagreement here about how many ad units you can have. Some people say one, some say "multiple". Which is it?

    Off to read the TOS....

You can have multiple but it isn't "supported" meaning you will likely have duplicated ads.

I have just got accepted as well....

I was glad to see the mail... problem is I am undecided what to do.. not sure where I want to try it out first.. My best choice right now is likely to be a site that is in a fairly low paying segment but could usefully target some higher paying related markets.. So I am thinking that is where I will go first.

I have not been keeping up with posts here so far, but will go read them.. any information on how the targeting categories work in terms of impacting ads shown?

Would I get in if I submited wikipedia.org as my site??!! [IMG] [IMG]

Think it would be a good idea to sign up under the 15 most populer content rich sites on the internet, get the invites and then sell 14 of them on ebay!!!! [IMG] [IMG]

I'm playing with that now. It will definately be useful but you have to experiment with it. I can see using it to display different types of ads on different parts of the same page.

Oh.. You can use it to target different ads on the same page... I guess I need to get out my fine-tooth comb before I jump into it.

Sounds just like what I need for some placements.

Actually I was wrong about that. You can target specific categories on different pages. You have to put the the URL for the site or specific page.

Yeah I saw that... but it did spur me to get yahoo ads on one of my sites.. Going to wait and see how the targeting goes... I am concerned about the inventory for the particular site.. but I will give it some time and see what happens. :)

The ads for YPN seem really off-target. I have a web page on "irritable bowel syndrome" and it is showing ads for ...

    flowers
    online degree programs
calls with vonage - AND -
    0% credit cards

That is great ad targeting.

I saw the same type of very non relevent ads on my halloween page - I gave it about 48 hours, but same 'ol stuff ... so I switched back to Adsense, which nails it well.

BTW, I did look at the YPN ad targetting, but didn't see anything for holidays ... would also be nice if Yahoo provided a link to show ALL sub-categories, since otherwise you have to hunt-n-peck to see 'em all. I.e. kinda like Jensense did, but a dynamically updated authoritative list.

I was a bit disappointed by the selection of categories for my areas as well.

I think they helped a bit.. but if a 10 is a bullseye it just took my ads from a zero to a 1.

I am testing it on a site that was not peforming well at all. So I am going to give it some time.

My [highly untargeted] ads have been running for a couple of days now with no change at all.

Dumb question: I can run YPN and Adsense from the same site, but not the same page, correct?

Yahoo's rules look more strict that Googles! You can't even tell any one how much money you make with Yahoo!!!

I've missed the heated arguments between the Adsense and Yahoo! reps at the SES. With YPN going full steam, I can't wait to catch it next year :D

Hmm.. I was under the impression that it was site-wide google or yahoo.

I must claim I have not verified this with my own eyes, but I thought google changed the language to include the whole site in a recent TOS update.

    Obviously not.
