Acceptable use of the "Report Post"

I would just like to check the use of the warning triangle, I know that its a huge forum so abuse of the triangle itself would be as bad as spamming in my opinion and perhaps (for me) this needs to be clarified.

Few things as regards 'grassing em up'

    Q. If you receive a spam PM shouldyou forward that PM on to a forum leader?

    Q. If a new member makes 5 spam posts in a variety of forums basically advertising an affiliate URL do I need to report every post. I presume reporting one advertising message would deal with this even if he/she had 6 spam posts?

    Q. A new member makes 30 posts of around 3 words per post, like,
    "yes ,you can"
" I think yes" etc etc etc

But 30 posts all with zero addition to the forum and zero info, it doesn't meet any report criteria so is this collateral damage or should this type of user be reported even if it just brings attention to them for future reference?

    Q. Should bumps be reported using the triangle

1- Yes, I always forward them to a mod, just make sure they are really spam

2- No, just report one post, the mods usually take a look at his recent posts and will delete or merge any junk ones

3- Yes, report them, I do it. Really anoying to see someone posting stupid one-liners on every thread he finds

4- Yes, bumping is not allowed and not fair to other members

Yes, Fryman is spot on there. From our perspective, we'd rather have too many and skip a few that aren't 'real' violations than the other way around and we'd miss a few. If it annoys you, it's probably something we don't like and have prohibited so yeah, keep them coming. And for those spammers on a run, one report and a "see his other posts" would suffice. Those messages can be kept well short, some members like to give us their life story :) "SPAM" is more effective than "I'm sorry to bother you but I believe this member blah blah..." Really nice but not needed.

Right... Fryman is correct on all that. It's *really* annoying when someone reports 20 posts from the same person (all being spam or something) because they will all be picked up with the first report...

I didn't know it gave a 60 second warning to be honest... but that's good. :)

One time someone reported like 15 posts, all from the same user (obviously they had a beef with them because they were digging up old posts where they called someone an idiot or something and were reporting it as harassment). It was so annoying on our end (since we actually have to sift through each one, and none of them would have been reported if he didn't have a personal problem with them) that I ended up giving an infraction to the person reporting all the posts. heh
