Ive read lots of things like this "link building is very important....make sure the relevant................edu are the best" Yesterday I managed to get 3 inbound .ac.uk links from 3 subdomains from the same University. Now Ive read that there a good thing but how good? Will my “trustrank†now be very high, should I see a noticeable improvement in my SERPS?
Probably. But, there are .edu domains that have very poor "trustrank" themselves. So, those links would not help. One proxy measure for this would be to look for the other links from the site/subdomain/page. If it seems like a bunch of links are sold or irrelevant etc, then there is little chance of you finding the holy grail there.
Of course, you could just place links to a couple of my sites on the same pages and I will report the SERP effects to you
lol, these are on a proper university website that I know doesnt sell links or anything. Of course its the uni I went to so there happy to talk about how great I am and my site is! lol I should get the full effect of the ac.uk as two of the pages Im one are PR4 with only 1 other outbound link. The third is a sig on an invite only forum which may not be worth much. So if the .ac or .edu is a repuable site then should I be very happy about the links or just get on with it?
Well google has finally cached the pages with the .ac.uk links on them and I can report what looks like an increase in spidering. (probably just a coincidence but you’ve got to get excited at signs of increased activity) Bit of age on these links and I reckon I’ll see better SERPs.
