I'm a total newbie to adsense. Spent some time researching and creating this blog at http://rightpoint.blogspot.com, but although I get some impressions, my earnings are absolute zero. Zilch. Did I do something wrong?
You are ok, just add a bigger adsense baner instead of the link unit and get some traffic, posting in forums might help
Drive more traffic .. use digg.com it is the best soruce for free traffic if you can write some thing worthy digg.com do the rest for you.
I read a few times that Digg traffic doesn't click though....mostly ppl just get a lot more signups or subscribers. Does anyone concur?
Some of the Digg users do Click on AD. If the ads are blend well in the site you have good CTR. I have arround 1-2% which i guess is quite right.
Firstly, you're on the right track. But you've only got four pages there, so keep doing what you're doing in that respect. Also remember the "how to make money from blogging" niche is a very crowded one, so diversify with other totally unrelated blogs. Um, what else. Oh yeah, I'd stick a banner at the top to compliment the adlinks at some point. Better click through rates in my case. Oh, and there's no obvious way back to your front page from a blog posting, so you really need to make your header link back or put a link back somewhere. Maybe it's there, but if I didn't see it then I guess others won't either. (Not a money making tip, I admit!) Cheers Chris
Click through rates aren't high, you're right. But there's still people clicking. Digg readers have come to your site because they're interested in the actual meat of the article and probably zoom back to digg once they're done. But if you're gathering subscribers then that's a good thing, right?
Absolutely! I think new subscribers are more important than a few clicks. But if you're only digging for clicks and you don't have a forum to join or a newsletter to sign up for, then you might be a little disappointed from what I've heard.
I started my site and CTR was 0.5% now i able to have CTR of 2% approx .. which is good improvment from my side i am learning will learn. Your words give me encourgement to work hard to increase CTR but some times i though that it also depends on the visitors you are getting. I would love to listen any suggestion you personally want to give me in order to improve CTR.
1-2% is extremely low. Put ads in beter places.. And the room for improvement is boundless. CTR's of over 100% are possible too, but rare (I had a ctr of 160% one day ) I think you can do better
And i guess i need a reviewer like you who will review the site and looks what i did .. but most the people i showed my site they told me i place the ads in the exact place. What to have a look ?
Hell, I can't get above .5%. I still make $5 a day or so, so I am kind of content. I can't really think of a way to get it any higher, I've tried lots of things...
Don't know if that's going to help, unless the boards you post on have the type of people that are inclined to click on ads. Maybe someone who has those super CTRs can correct me if I'm wrong, but I figure CTR is a matter of 3 things. 1. Optimized ad layout (blending, placement, etc.) 2. Content that leaves the visitor wanting more, or ready to buy something (or in some cases, content that has no value whatsoever, causing the visitor to want to escape from the site as quickly as possible.) 3. A topic that draws the type of visitor that's more willing to click on ads. I don't know the types of audiences that will click on ads, but to concur with what MorgansMom said, Digg traffic is reportedly not a good source for ad clicks.
