I appreciate that and i'm not knocking it but it can't really claim to be SEO friendly when its not.

Those links are worthless are far as SEO is concerned.

My dear Friend, Sorry to argue you but I dont think these are worthless. Can you please descrbe why these are worthless for search engines. Each of that page will get a PR. or is having a PR. Those are direct links with no querystrings in the url.

Whats left that i dont know, just curious to know.

I tend to believe the problem rests with the requested link text (on your directory page with the higher PR value) points to your internal page giving you the link rather than the submitter. From the landing page, you then have a link with the link text "visit ..." (replace ... with site name) pointing to the final destination. IMHO.

This gives you both the link text and the higher PR pointing to your page instead of the person making the submission getting the result. I tend to avoid directories/sites employing this pratice as well.

I have seen the same thing with some paid directories as well, with paid directories like these, I do not pay more then $10-20 for a life time link, but with free directories, I do not mind. I get a page with just my link atleast, if it was on the category page, it would be shared with more people. For free, I will take it.

See North Carolina SEO's post. It explains it a lot better than i can.

Its free so fair play but not "SEO friendly" IMO.

Hi, I though I'd enter the debate now!

All above IS true, however, what the submitter gets is in effect their own page with clean link, with their own text only one level down from the directory, where they enjoy an uncrowded existence on a page with far fewer links out than on the main directory category.

These single pages also stand a higher chance of doing well in the SE's as they generally have high KW density and title KW density rather than in the unfocused upper category. Hence being SEO friendly.

I think what you mean is that they don't pass as much PR onto the submitter as the category pages might - but I think that if you weigh PR against SEO friendly that they pretty much cancel each other out.

If the submitters single page ranks well in a search engine then he has the higher chance that someone will click the link and visit the site - also, having a link on a page that ranks well for his chosen keywords will also help his cause.

    In my opinion. ;)

    Hope all that makes sense.

I just submitted http://carreer.info. In spite of its typo name, it has genuine original content about how to get a job and how to keep a job :)

    Thank you.
