About Website -> do i need Trademarks or Company?

    Here i go:
    well i am programmer so i know alot really good programmers, recently, few of them moved to web-dev,
    and they coded their website-ideas & they are now about 15 000 < alexa
    however, they reported some issues few months ago and i am unhappy to see how someone takes their brains! as i go high with alexa ranking and my traffic goes up fast, i am afraid for my websites also.

    so here is what happened to my friend:
    he finally got his masterpiece website about 11 000 in alexa (so u know how popular it was) but that website didn't last long... he told me some guy from china had a trademark registered and his domain name contains it, he gave me few emails that i don't have now, the emails were looking professional and there was something about trademark... i don't know what exactly the Chinese dude did, but the result was that my friend was arrested for 24 hours, his domain name is now owned by someone in china, he had to go to the court and deal with lawyers, and he was unable to do anything about it.

    on top of that, this chinese guy did runs a website with the same idea as my friend had!

    now... the question is How do i prevent my websites from such thing !?

    do i need a trademark or a company registration ? but i own more than 15 websites, trademark for each one of them .. ?
    if i need trademark or company, please explain me more detailed what exactly do i need to do..

    You need to consult with an intellectual property rights attorney in the country which you live in. They would need to do research on each domain you have. Just having a trademark in a domain is not something you would get arrested for in the US - so something is missing from the story.

    Where do you live
    In India too we have trademark registration offices, who runs a check before registration and once you have it (it takes 5 months), then you are game for fair use of that trademark
