Hi, I plan to hire somebody to do a website, I want to use 99designs for website design files, then hire someone on freelance site for actual code implementation, does anybody know roughly the cost of coding from design files to actual website?
Like design a taskrabbit clone site or freelancing clone site?

All depends on the Developer really and the time frame of the project. I've seen sites like this shoot anywhere from 200$-2000$. Content also plays a big factor as well. I personally have charged somewhere in the 200-300$ range for a project similar like this recently, but it didn't have much content.

The web development price mostly depends on the project requirement.

@OP: In the unlikely event you want to make the most out of a tight budget, it could also be the other way around... just if you know the right places to post your job offer. Freelancing is everywhere.

I think 99designs are relatively good, tho you can find probably a same skilled (or maybe better) designer on a contest here for a smaller price.

On the other hand if someone asks $200-500 for a complex project like this, I'd say stay away. Expect at least $20 hourly for (quality) php work, where everything is optimized and secure also expect at least 50-100hours with a project like this. You need to think in scalability, so if your userbase start to growth, you won't need to spend 4-10x additional prices on the server costs.

So to sum up: all I'm saying is to calculate with around $2-3k.

Freelancer.com is "people under bidding each other", I've taken a lot of projects where I had to fix the "experienced developers" work and sometimes I had to completely re-write the systems. So think about the long run.

    Thanks for your suggestion.
I do have hired some people for other projects on Elance, but result is not so good actually.
In your words, where do you think better to find people for pay per hour?
