Research for a better keyword, and put the keyword on the title and meta, and start link building. It will help to achieve the desired goal.
When traffic is needed it is good to engage in a link building campaign. Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin can also help you.

are you sure whether you have written your meta description correct? modify it a bit and see the report. Im not sure about it but it might be one of the reason even if you are ranking higher in SERPs then.

As far as long tail keywords are concerned what are the ones should one choose? So it must be determined which key words are likely to be used when searches are made.
Is your website a blog, a squeeze page etc? If you are not getting traffic through google, then probably you are not targeting the correct keywords. The best traffic strategies may change according to the type of website. I use Forum Marketing, Blog Commenting and recently Video Marketing to drive traffic to my squeeze page. Search for forums in your related niche (either in google or big-boards.com) and join there. First read the rules specially about signatures there and then start giving value to the forum. Participate, ask questions etc. You will see that by giving value, people will begin to notice you. And you will get clicks to your website. Also, search for blogs in your niche, you could use google blog search for that. And just post genuine comments after reading the article.
