So I heard about this AdWords scam, I don't know is it recent? This forum: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=89 was full of people selling $100 vouchers for $10/20 last time I checked and so many people seem to be able to take advantage of it. What do you think will happen to the system? Will Google start banging on your door if you registered through the links in that ebook or if you have more accounts than one registered through that link ? This doesn't apply to me as I'm not using it at the moment but I'm sure it has and will continue affecting many of you advertisers who rely on AdWords and spend money to promote the products, whereas others just get it for free.
How exactly is this a scam? You say the $100 vouchers are being sold for $10/20... then why do you later say they get them for free? Vouchers have been being sold on dp for over 2 years...
Oh I didn't go into detail about the scam I thought everyone was familiar - basically there is an ebook circulating around that tells you how to get about $650 of free credits from signing up through various 'for business' links like GoDaddy which offer about $200 and then multiple AdWords account (everytime you sign up you're getting $50). So yes, if you check the voucher forum you will see people selling several of these $50 credited accounts. And I have also seen numerous GoDaddy price vouchers.
Whats the scam then? - Signing up for accounts like godaddy for adword vouchers is not illegal... Unless your using a stolen credit card, or doing a chargeback or something. The only adword 'scam' i know of is the "unlimited balance" one.
its not a scam, neither "illegal"..but very, very much against Google's TOS. 1) Best thing which can happen: Yes, there are vouchers left and right. Thats no secret. Have N accounts and have campaigns running for (almost) free on each of those until the credits are run down. Be extremely careful, use proxies, never use the same URL on any of those accounts. Big deal actually. 2) The worst thing which can happen: G finds out, bans all your domains, bitchslaps them with $8 minimum bids....demands money back or takes it from you AdSense account. You as marketer are screwed if you find out that all your domains all of a sudden became worthless for PPC.... You decide.
Ouch! I would rather do it the fair way and have only one adwords account. I saw this ebook on clickbank that says something like "get google adwords free" so I was wondering how that was possible. Well at least now I know what the basic content of that ebook is. Glad I didn't fork over the money to actually see it.
Well, in my opinion they are illegal beacuse it's actually stealing money from Google. Another problem is that these accounts will either have to be activated with the same credit card or with STOLEN credit cards - If they are activated with the same credit cards you are easily trackable.
