About the 'identical/similar landing page' rule for QScore

    Hi,

From what I'm getting from Google's massive rules section, is it true that if I test ads in a good number of ad groups, their landing pages can NOT look similar?

For starters, I'm presently testing two ads for one group. Each ad has its own landing page and the pages pretty much have the exact same format (text, subheads, opt-in form, testimonials, images, etc.). The only difference between them is the headline and various other text areas in order for the content to be relevant to the actual wording and creatives in the ad. I planned it that way of course to save time.

But now I'm told that this causes a bad QScore - can't have a bunch of ads leading to a bunch of pages that all more or less look the same.

Is this really true? How different or varied should they be? (page length? different position of images? right panel? no right panel? different uses of colors? exact same text wording? different wording?)

I guess putting links of these pages are allowed on this forum but I'm not too sure because I'm new here. If you want to see them I could include the links to give you a better idea of what they look like in terms of originality.

Also, as an aside, how long does it usually take Google to update your Quality Score based on making changes?

    Robin

Not necessary.. even when you use Google optimizer, you will use the almost same copies of the page... just ensure you have only one page in the google index.. for all other pages use meta tags for noindex

When you say Google index, do you mean submitting the sitemap?
